PRODUCT INFORMATION

KHEMIX 230 is an inhibited acid discaler for removing hard scale and deposits from cooling tower systems, evaporate active condensers, boilers, compressors, heat exchangers and jacketed kettles.

KHEMIX 230 can be used on equipment made of steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel and copper.

KHEMIX 230 contains an acid corrosion inhibitor to protect steel during the acid descaler process.

KHEMIX 230 is a combination of phosphoric acid and corrosion inhibitors, which prevent the acid from attacking clean metal surfaces during the descaling process, plus a pH colour indicator which changes from green to purple when the acid is used up.

KHEMIX 230 is a concentrated liquid scale dissolving acid that is convenient and effective.

KHEMIX 230 is highly recommended, if there is a necessary to acid descale galvanized cooling tower and evaporative condensers, KHEMIX 230 is less aggressive towards zinc-galvanized surfaces than muriatic acid.

DIRECTION FOR USE:

Before using KHEMIX 230 in water system, the system should be drained flushed with water to remove loose debris and refilled with clean water. With the bleed-off closed add 5% KHEMIX 230 to water in system, for moderate scaling conditions. For heavy scale, increased to 10 % to water and for light scaled add 2.5% to water.

Circulate the KHEMIX 230 solution, using an acid resistant pump, until the colour indicator turns to purple, and then add more KHEMIX 230 to change the colour of the solution back to green. Continue this process until the colour stays green for 3 hour. The system must be thoroughly flushed with clean water, before it is put back in service. If the tower is constructed of galvanized steel, hose off the unit when the system is being flushed.

Discharge of the KHEMIX 230 solution must be carried out according to local state and federal regulations.

FOR USE IN:

Heat Exchangers, Compressors and Jacketed Kettles:

Prepare an acid cleaning solution in a mixing tank, using 6-10% KHEMIX 230 to water. Using a centrifugal pump recirculate the acid cleaning solution through the unit for 2 to 4 hours. Drain and thoroughly flush the unit.

Boilers And Steam Generators: When cleaning a small to medium size boiler with KHEMIX 230 , close and secure the system valve, then drain and flush the unit. Close off the blowdown lines. The boiler must be well vented by using a vent hose from the top opening to the outdoors. Refill the boiler and add KHEMIX 230 at the same time. Use 10% of KHEMIX 230 to water in the boiler. Fire the boiler to bring the acid cleaning solution up to a temperature of 140 F. Allow the unit to soak for 4 to 8 hours. Additional acid may be used, if necessary, to maintain strength. Drain and thoroughly flush the boiler.

Precautions In Handling: KHEMIX 230 contains phosphoric acid. This product is corrosive to the eyes and skin. Personnel should wear goggles, glove and protective clothing when handling.
